Lois Young, my mother, was a homemaker of the '50s and '60s. Evening meals at 5:00 every day, after Dad got home from work, was the norm. Of course those meals along with some weekend and special occasions at my grandmothers' houses provided the food I grew up with. My mom had her own recipe book filled with her favorite recipes that, after her death, my siblings and I copied and used to try to replicate "our" favorites. This site is an attempt to give access to and share with the rest of the family all the tasty food we grew up with.

About the site:

I kept the original images of the hand written or typewritten 3 X 5 cards with her notes on these pages. You will find on each web page first the scanned image of the original followed by a text version below it. That should allow for copying and searching of the text.

Some of the terms:

Oleo was a brand of margarine. Butter can be used instead
T. or tbsp means Tablespoon
t. is teaspoon

Please feel free to send me a picture of your completed recipe and I will post it. If you have any questions contact me at cliffsmail.young@gmail.com
